Dave Culham Drive temporary road closure

Dave Culham Drive will be temporarily closed for repair work required on Te Matau a Pohe bridge. 

Period of closure: 6:00am on Sunday 10 May to 6:00am on Monday 11 May 2026.

If works do not proceed as planned or require more time to complete, the following backup days have been scheduled: Sunday 17 and / or Sunday 24 May 2026.

Motorists will need to use alternative routes via Okara Drive / Port Road, Reyburn Street, Dent Street and Riverside Drive.

There will still be access to both the Whangārei Dog Park and Bike Park via Riverside Drive.

Pedestrians will be able to cross the bridge as the bridge footpath will remain open unless there is an emergency.

Te Matau a Pohe bridge will be closed to marine traffic. As high tide is at 1:19am on Sunday 10 May 2026, we encourage any marine users that need to go out to book in advance with Bridge Control.
