Hātea walkway swing bridge temporarily closed
The Hātea walkway swing bridge on the walking trail from A H Reed Memorial Kauri Park to Whangārei Falls is closed following a failed safety inspection. We are working with specialist engineers and contractors to replace the bridge structure to ensure necessary stabilisation and safety improvements.

Rates rebate widened
Changes to the thresholds mean some ratepayers who weren't eligible for a rates rebate in 2024-25 might be eligible in 2025-26. Homeowners can check their eligibility and apply for the 2025-26 rates rebate below. If you received a rebate last year, we have sent you a form for 2025-26, which you should have received by the end of July 2025.

Te Matau a Pohe bridge planned closure
Te Matau a Pohe bridge will be closed to vehicle and marine traffic from 6:00am on Sunday 10 May to 6:00am on Monday 11 May 2026. The bridge footpath will remain open for pedestrians.
With high tide at 1:19am on Sunday 10 May 2026, we encourage any marine users that need to go out to book in advance with Bridge Control.
