Silver Festival Whangārei

Promotional tile for “Silver Festival” with the tagline “Celebrate Age, Let’s Engage!” in large white text over a teal-blue sky. In the foreground, two older adults walk away from the camera along a sandy beach toward the ocean.

The Silver Festival will return again this year from 1 to 14 October 2026.

It is an annual series of events across the Whangārei District to celebrate older adults and acknowledge their important role and contribution to our District.

The festival is supported by local community groups and clubs that register their events and join forces to celebrate our older communities.

Each event offers an opportunity for seniors to explore what’s available, try something new, connect and make new friends, be active, get creative and, most importantly, have fun!

The Silver Festival is facilitated by Whangarei District Council and is a part of our wider commitment to being an Age Friendly Community.

Event registrations for the 2026 festival are closed.

Check out the 2025 festival booklet below to get an idea of the kind of events that will be happening. It also contains recurring events, with some still active (please see pages 34 to 46). It is always best to check with the event host for any updates.
