Silver Festival Whangārei

The words

The Silver Festival is an annual series of events across the Whangārei District to celebrate older adults and acknowledge their important role and contribution to our District.

This year, the festival is on from 1 to 14 October 2025, starting on Wednesday 1 October in celebration of the International Day of Older Persons.

The Silver Festival is supported by community groups and clubs in the District that register their events and join forces to celebrate our older communities. 

Each event offers an opportunity for seniors to explore what’s available, try something new, connect and make new friends, be active, get creative and, most importantly, have fun!

The Silver Festival is facilitated by Whangarei District Council and is a part of our wider commitment to being an Age Friendly Community.
