Silver Festival Whangārei

The Silver Festival is an annual series of events across the Whangārei District to celebrate older adults and acknowledge their important role and contribution to our District.

It is supported by community groups and clubs in the District that register their events and join forces to celebrate our older communities. 

Each event offers an opportunity for seniors to explore what’s available, try something new, connect and make new friends, be active, get creative and, most importantly, have fun!

The Silver Festival is facilitated by Whangarei District Council and is a part of our wider commitment to being an Age Friendly Community. 

The 2025 festival was held from 1 to 14 October, however the festival booklet also contains recurring events that happen throughout the year (see pages 34 to 46):
