Attending an event at Forum North

People gather in the Forum North foyer, socialising before an event beneath exposed beams and display screens.

Overview

The Forum North Entertainment Centre is located at 7 Rust Avenue, Whangārei.

Forum North offers convenient access with two entrances:

  • Rust Avenue, near the Whangārei Central Library
  • Water Street, with access from the nearby carpark.

There are also three alternative access points available to hirers of the facilities via the kitchen, theatre and hall for ease of pack in and pack out.

Accessibility seating is available in the theatre with access via the lift by the Forum North Office. Please ensure you book your accessible seating ticket through the venue rather than the website to ensure you receive the best service.

Access to the facilities for the public is generally available one hour prior to event start times.

Accessibility

The Forum North Entertainment Centre has level access throughout most areas including our conference suites and exhibition hall. Both venue entrances (Rust Avenue and Water Street) are within 25m from mobility carpark spaces.

We have wheelchair accessible toilets.

If you require any additional assistance, please see our friendly venue staff.

Accessible parking

There are several mobility parking spaces near both entrances to the venue (Rust Avenue and Water Street) and a drop-off bay outside the front entrance.

Accessibility in the Capitaine Bougainville Theatre

Forum North has one elevator to access the Capitaine Bougainville Theatre which has level seating in row J only. If you require seating with minimal stairs, please see our venue staff for help.

There are allocated wheelchair spaces available to book for every event. If you use a wheelchair, you are more than welcome to bring an essential companion with you to assist with access around our venue.

Please note that due to fire regulations that walking aids and prams will be kept outside the theatre doors during the performance to ensure pathways are kept clear.

In the unlikely event of an evacuation, please remain in your seat until all patrons have exited the theatre.

Forum North is a certified participating venue of the Hāpai Access Card scheme and are committed to making events accessible for all visitors.

Our Box Office opens one hour before the scheduled start time for all ticketed shows.

Door sales are available while tickets last. Booking fees apply. Most tickets are not refundable.

Cashless venue

Forum North is cashless and only accepts EFTPOS, credit card and PayWave.

This applies to our venue Box Office, vending machine and bar.

There is an ANZ and BNZ bank nearby on the corner of Rust and Bank Street if cash is required.

Photography

In accordance with copyright law, many shows will not allow photography.

Please check all pre-show messages or check with the ushers.

Front-of-house staff and ushers are on hand to help you find your seat and answer any queries.

Arrive early to avoid lockout

To ensure a smooth experience for all patrons, please arrive with plenty of time before your scheduled performance. Doors may close at showtime, and late arrivals risk being locked out.

Please carefully check your ticket for show times. If you arrive after the performance has begun, you may be asked to wait until a suitable break in the show before being admitted.

In some cases, latecomers may not be admitted at all.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain an uninterrupted experience for all audience members.

Forum North is a completely smoke-free and vape-free venue.

Waste minimisation

We're committed to sustainability, so please use the recycling bins provided throughout the venue.

To support our on-site vendors, only food and beverages purchased at the venue may be consumed during your visit.
