Paying your land rates

There are a number of ways to pay your land rates.

Direct debit

Direct Debit is our preferred option for land rates payments and is exempt from penalties.

They can be set up to be paid from your bank account, on a weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly or annual basis.

If there are any changes to your land rates charges, these will be automatically adjusted and notification sent to you in writing.

You can set up a direct debit online. You will need your bank account information.

The rating year is divided into four instalments, each invoiced separately.

Your rates notice arrives about one month before the due date.

You must pay each instalment by the due date:

Instalment Payment due date
1st 20 August
2nd 20 November
3rd 20 February
4th 20 May

If the 20th falls on a weekend, make sure that you pay by the next working day.

You are welcome to pay the total year's land rates, but there is no early-bird discount for payment in full.

  • A 10% penalty will be added to any amount of the current instalment remaining unpaid after the due date.
  • A 10% penalty will be added in October, on prior year's arrears.
  • If direct debit payments are current, no penalties will be incurred.
