Before you operate an amusement device, you need to apply to us for an amusement device permit to operate.
Please note that you must provide a copy of the current Certificate of Registration for each device, with your permit application. All fees must be paid at time of application.
Amusement devices includes any fairground rides and any other mechanically powered rides used for rider entertainment. This includes but not limited to:
- bumper boats
- bumper cars
- merry go rounds
- minibikes.
Applications must be received at least 10 working days before the date of the event, or the application may be refused.
Criteria
- Amusement devices must be registered with NZ WorkSafe after your device has been certified by a registered engineer.
Amusement devices (worksafe.govt.nz)
- The amusement device must comply with the conditions set out in the NZ WorkSafe certificate for that device.
- You must provide a Certificate of Registration for each device along with your completed application form.
- The application must be received at least 10 working days prior to the date of the event.
- All appropriate fees are paid.
