MetService severe weather warnings

  • the most severe weather is expected overnight

  • large swells may impact low‑lying coastal areas, particularly at high tide (around 2:30am Sunday 12 April) and in exposed locations

  • hunker down tonight, look out for one another, stay off the roads and keep away from beaches and harbours

  • there is also a risk of flooding overnight in the low-lying parts of the CBD with high-tide at around 3:00am

If you need to evacuate

People are advised to shelter at home if it is safe to do so

If you need to evacuate, stay with family or friends where possible, as this may be more comfortable
