If your dog or pet is missing, you should start searching immediately:
If your dog is microchipped and registration details are up-to-date, the good news is there is a greater chance of being reunited quickly.
Council's Animal Management officers collect any wandering dogs reported to us and take them to the dog shelter.
We will check the dog's identity, if your dog is microchipped and registered we can then contact you, the owner.
We will contact you by phone and also by written notice so you can claim your dog.
Failure to claim an impounded dog does not relieve you as the owner from liability for any costs incurred.
Dogs that are unclaimed after seven days become the property of Council and may be:
No dogs will be released until all related fees have been paid.
