Economic Development

We aim to create a thriving and prosperous economy with better work opportunities. Council's strategies and plans outline how we will achieve this aim. These documents are developed with input from our community.

Whangārei's economic growth is positive. This is due to population growth and investment. We encourage people to live, work, visit and invest in Whangārei. We do this by working with key agencies, the community and businesses.

A key milestone in achieving this is also The Te Kārearea Strategic Partnership Forum (established in 2012). This forum includes Councillors and representatives of Whangārei hapū.
