Closed circuit television (CCTV)

Outdoor CCTV cameras mounted on a pole with green foliage in the background.

We own and manage a network of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras across Whangārei to support community and road related safety.

The main purpose of our CCTV cameras is to give public safety reassurance through monitoring and enforcement, as well as to prevent and deter disorder, dishonesty and antisocial behaviours.

The network of over 300 cameras covers public spaces and are monitored by volunteers at the Whangārei Police Station.

Additional cameras may also be located at various Council offices and facilities. CCTV signage is displayed at these locations.

You can view a list of our CCTV camera locations below.

CCTV cameras operating at Te Kamo, Hikurangi and other suburbs or town centres within the District are owned and operated by local business communities and are not part of our community safety CCTV Network.
