The Whangārei Christmas Festival jingles all the way across the District, bringing a sleigh-load of festive fun to spread Christmas cheer far and near.

There is a stocking full of events like Christmas-themed markets, carol-filled concerts, arts and crafts, merry workshops, parades, twinkling light displays and so much more!

Hātea walkway swing bridge temporarily closed

The Hātea walkway swing bridge on the walking trail from A H Reed Memorial Kauri Park to Whangārei Falls is closed following a failed safety inspection. We are working with specialist engineers and contractors to replace the bridge structure to ensure necessary stabilisation and safety improvements.

Te Matau a Pohe bridge temporary marine closure

Te Matau a Pohe bridge will be temporarily closed to marine traffic from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Tuesday 2 June 2026.

The bridge will remain open for all vehicle traffic and pedestrians.

We encourage any marine users that need to go out to book in advance with Bridge Control to pass before or after this time.

We appreciate your patience and apologise for any inconvenience.
