Shoemaker Road roadworks

Geotechnical investigation works will take place on Shoemaker Road as part of planning for the new motorway project.

Period of works: Wednesday 20 May to mid-June 2026

Contractors will be carrying out ground drilling and testing within the road corridor to better understand ground conditions for future construction.

There will be a temporary speed limit of 30km/h and single-lane closures in place at times (24/7) with stop / go traffic management using temporary traffic signals.

Hātea walkway swing bridge temporarily closed

The Hātea walkway swing bridge on the walking trail from A H Reed Memorial Kauri Park to Whangārei Falls is closed following a failed safety inspection. We are working with specialist engineers and contractors to replace the bridge structure to ensure necessary stabilisation and safety improvements.

Rates rebate widened

Changes to the thresholds mean some ratepayers who weren't eligible for a rates rebate in 2024-25 might be eligible in 2025-26. Homeowners can check their eligibility and apply for the 2025-26 rates rebate below. If you received a rebate last year, we have sent you a form for 2025-26, which you should have received by the end of July 2025.
