A Producer Statement is a document from a qualified professional (such as an engineer, plumber, Independent Qualified Person (IQP), or other licensed practitioner) confirming that specific design or construction work meets the Building Code. It is often used as part of the building consent process under the Building Act 2024.
Producer Statements may be part of the design work (PS1 and PS2) and can be required as part of your Building Consent application.
Producer Statements for construction monitoring (PS3) and construction review (PS4) may also be required under your building consent conditions. If these statements are not provided, the issue of your Code Compliance Certificate (CCC) could be delayed.
Councils are not legally required to accept Producer Statements, but they are widely used in the building industry to demonstrate compliance and help councils make decisions on reasonable grounds.
Most councils request them as part of their risk management process because they allow councils to rely on expert certification rather than carrying out all checks themselves.
