This free community event honours loved ones who have passed since the last rising of Matariki star cluster, signaling the Māori New Year. 

Whānau are welcome to send pictures of their loved ones to be included in the presentation, which will also be available on our Facebook page to view anytime.

Our guest speakers will share kōrero about the different Stars of Matariki. Each star has a kōrero, a purpose. Pōhutakawa is the whetū for taking care of those who have passed away. 

We will give kōrero of Taramainuku who is the Kaihautū for Te Waka o te Rangi, this cluster has the Matariki Whetū at it's Ihu. 

This will be an event to remember those who have passed, and to share information about the essence of Matariki. Light snacks will be provided.
