A new skatepark was constructed in Parua Bay at the reserve adjacent to the Parua Bay Community Centre.

The new skatepark was designed collaboratively with local students and skatepark users. It includes a variety of features suitable for all abilities, from beginners through to advanced riders.

We placed public toilets near the entrance, relocated from Matapōuri Bay. A gravel footpath connects the new skatepark and the carpark at the nearby community centre.

Construction began in July and was completed in November 2025.

Thanks to Whangārei artist Earnest Bradley, the Parua Bay Community Centre public toilet – formerly of Matapōuri Beach – has rolled into its new home as a colourful crowd‑pleaser beside the skatepark.

Wharf Road wharf in Parua Bay

The wharf on Wharf Road in Parua Bay was deemed unsafe after consultant engineering companies assessed it. We installed a new platform over the old deck, extending the life of the wharf for an estimated 10 years.
