Pop-up Pump Track

Whangārei has a Pop-up Pump Track thanks to funding from the Waka Kotahi Transport Choices programme. It is free for everyone to enjoy.

It is a modular track, made up of different sections that can be packed up and moved from one place to another. Think of it like a moveable piece of playground equipment.

Our model is the World Cup Pump Track by Park Life. It is 65 metres long and can be configured in three different ways. The track includes a circuit of hills and bumps, rollers and banked turns.

It is designed to be ridden by scooters, skateboards and bike riders pumping to get momentum, instead of pedalling or pushing. No motorised vehicles or electric scooters are allowed on the track.

Where is it now?

Hikurangi Sports Park, Park Street, Hikurangi

The Pop-up Pump Track is now in Hikurangi Sports Park on Park Street in Hikurangi. We have put in a gate and a bin to help manage access and rubbish.

The track will stay in Hikurangi for approximately six months, before moving to a new home in March 2026.

Want the pump track in your neighbourhood?

The Pop-up Pump Track will be visiting two or three parks across the Whangārei District each year.

If you would like it in your neighbourhood park, please email us and the team will assess if there is a suitable site in the area.
