The Silver Festival is an annual series of events across the Whangārei District to celebrate older adults and acknowledge their important role and contribution to our District.
It is supported by local community groups and clubs that register their events and join forces to celebrate our older communities.
Each event offers an opportunity for seniors to explore what’s available, try something new, connect and make new friends, be active, get creative and, most importantly, have fun!
The Silver Festival is facilitated by Whangarei District Council and is a part of our wider commitment to being an Age Friendly Community.
The Silver Festival will return again this year from 1 to 14 October 2026. Please check back for event registrations, which are expected to open in late May and close in early July 2026.
The 2025 festival booklet below contains some recurring events, with many still active (please see pages 34 to 46). It is always best to check with the event host for any updates.
