Community Halls Strategy
Community Halls Strategy
The Community Halls Strategy sets out to:
provide a clear definition of what a ‘Community Hall’ is
clarify our roles and responsibilities to fund, manage and support the provision of community halls in the District
develop a framework for council funding for community halls in the district
recommend procedures in the event of disestablishment of a Community Hall.

Hātea walkway swing bridge temporarily closed
The Hātea walkway swing bridge on the walking trail from A H Reed Memorial Kauri Park to Whangārei Falls is closed following a failed safety inspection. We are working with specialist engineers and contractors to replace the bridge structure to ensure necessary stabilisation and safety improvements.

Rates rebate widened
Changes to the thresholds mean some ratepayers who weren't eligible for a rates rebate in 2024-25 might be eligible in 2025-26. Homeowners can check their eligibility and apply for the 2025-26 rates rebate below. If you received a rebate last year, we have sent you a form for 2025-26, which you should have received by the end of July 2025.
