"Whangārei's beloved sports parks are in the middle of a District-wide spring clean," according to Council's Sport Development Officer, Sarah Snowden.

"After months of heavy use and wet weather, our sports parks are receiving a well-deserved refresh. Our contractor, Green by Nature, has been out water blasting, cleaning, sanding and staining signs, to spruce things up for the season."

With summer just around the corner, the refreshed parks will be ready to host cricket, touch rugby, five-a-side football and softball trainings and games, community sport events, casual recreation and family outings.

Artificial cricket blocks have been prepared for summer matches and grassed cricket blocks have been under-sown to ensure lush, playable surfaces.

"It's all part of our commitment to deliver high-quality sport and recreation spaces that our communities can be proud of," says Sarah.

"Sports parks are more than just fields. They are places where communities gather, kids grow, and memories are made.

"So, whether you're a player, coach, supporter or simply enjoying the outdoors, we hope everyone will notice the difference and feel pride in Whangārei’s sports parks this season."
