Whangārei Aquatic Centre upgrade complete

These before and after shots of the hydro slide stairs at the Whangārei Aquatic Centre show one of the most dramatic pieces of the centre’s upgrade.
The Whangārei Aquatic Centre is looking bright and fresh after its recent upgrade, and it is functioning even better behind the scenes.
Over recent months, Council investment has seen filtration, treatment and heating systems upgraded to ensure consistently high standards of water quality and temperature, and non-slip flooring has been installed throughout the facility to improve safety for all users.
The wave pool, hydrotherapy pool and spa pool areas have been repainted, and the wave pool has been retiled and handrails replaced to make everything look fresher, and the stairs and supporting structure for the hydro slide have been replaced – improving safety, and the entire look of the wave pool area.
The 25m competition pool and learn-to-swim pool filtration and treatment systems have been upgraded, as has the main switchboard that powers the pool’s circulation, filtration, heating and air-handling systems. Their walls, terraces and seating have also been given a fresh coat of paint.
The changing rooms have undergone makeovers, including new drainage, painting, toilets, showers and hand basins, and toilets have been added into two family changing rooms.
