Celebrate the Rise of the Taniwha on Saturday 29 August 2026, starting 11:00am at Te Matau a Pohe bridge, traveling via Riverside and arriving in Central Whangārei at 12:00pm.
The public shower at Whangārei isite Visitor Centre is currently out of order. Showers are available at the Whangārei Aquatic Centre on Ewing Road in Riverside.
The Whangārei isite is a member of Tourism New Zealand’s official Visitor Information Network (isite).
The isite is the official provider of information in Whangārei with free maps and brochures, and a great range of souvenirs.

The isite offers Council customer services.
A customer representative is available from Monday to Friday to help with all Council enquiries and payments, excluding dog registrations.
Free parking is available for vehicles and camper vans.
There are mobility parking spaces directly in front of the main entrance and public toilets.
Eventfinda tickets are available at the Whangārei isite Visitor Centre between 9:00am and 4:00pm. Booking fees apply.
