Rates rebate widened
Changes to the thresholds mean some ratepayers who weren't eligible for a rates rebate in 2024-25 might be eligible in 2025-26. Homeowners can check their eligibility and apply for the 2025-26 rates rebate below. If you received a rebate last year, we have sent you a form for 2025-26, which you should have received by the end of July 2025.

Te Matau a Pohe bridge planned marine closure
Te Matau a Pohe bridge will be closed to marine traffic from 7:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday 28 January 2026 for hydraulic system maintenance. Vehicle traffic and pedestrians will not be affected.
With high tide at 4:07pm, skippers should book ahead for bridge lifts and be there before the non-opening period (4:00pm to 6:00pm).

Temporary Closure
Ōakura Transfer Station hours extended
Due to rain impacts, Ōakura Transfer Station has extended its hours from 8:00am until 4:30pm for Thursday and Friday. Standard hours will resume from Saturday onwards.
It will be accepting flood-damaged, inorganic items at no charge. Additionally there are skip bins available at Ōakura Hall for flood-damaged inorganic items.
