Rates rebate widened

More Gold Card-carrying homeowners may be eligible for a Government rebate on their Council rates this year.
Council’s Revenue Manager, Alison Puchaux, says changes to the thresholds mean some ratepayers who weren't eligible for a rates rebate in 2024-25 might be eligible in 2025-26.
“As well as being available to more people, the rates rebate has also increased. Low-income ratepayers living in their own homes and paying high rates could be eligible for a rebate of up to $805.
“If you received a rebate in 2024-25, we will send you the 2025-26 application form by 20 July. Using this form will make the process easier.
“We are asking Gold Card holders to include a photo of the back of their card with their application or to show us their card when they visit our offices.”
Mrs. Puchaux also asked retirement village residents to hold off on completing their applications until they receive their declaration from their retirement village operator.
“We will contact your village manager with information about the changes and schedule a visit in September if requested.
“We are here to help you with your rates rebate application. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or need assistance.”
