Be kind – donate a blanket
Published on 28 May 2025
If you can’t adopt a pound pooch but still want to do something to help, maybe you could raid your linen cupboard.
The Pound Pooch team at our District’s animal shelter are keen to receive donations of clean bedding (old blankets, quilts or towels) to keep dogs warm this winter.
“We are running low on dog bedding to get us through the colder months,” says a spokesperson.
“We have exhausted our second-hand store sources, so we are reaching out to the public for donations of unwanted bedding.
“Duvet covers (without inners), sheets, towels and blankets are all welcome. Please no loose woollens, feathers / fluffy duvet inserts, pillows or sleeping bags as they are dangerous for dogs if consumed.
“Items that are ripped, stained or simply not your colour would be perfect!”
If you are looking for a new fur friend, or if you would like to supply some bedding to make life just that little bit better for a dog who is staying with us, please call the Animal Shelter.
