Parihaka Night Biodiversity Walks

Join a guided night walk and discover the plants and animals that come alive after dark.

Learn how Tiakina Whangārei and the Parihaka Community Landcare Group support local ecosystems.

You may see:

  • glow worms
  • kauri snails (including glow-in-the-dark snails)
  • cave wētā
  • tuna (eels) and kōkopu fish.

A short quiz and giveaways will take place at the top of the hill.

What to bring:

  • torch or head torch
  • comfy walking shoes
  • rain jacket
  • water bottle.

Koha

$10 cash. Humans under 18 free.

Proceeds support: Building a community centre in Whangārei. Sponsoring a local sports team. Please ask the host for more info if you'd like to be involved in either of the ventures.

Who can come?

  • Youth are strongly encouraged to attend (children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver).
  • Open, welcoming community event.
