The main football pitch at Onerahi received a complete overhaul with new irrigation, drainage and a sand-carpet surface.

During the project, the main pitch received new sports lighting, so games and training can be undertaken in low-light conditions and at night.

The work was part of Council's 2021 Active Recreation and Sport Strategy, which aspires to meet the current and future sport facility needs in the Whangārei District.
