Strengthening work on the Kamo Road Bridge is scheduled to take place from May through to August 2026.

These works are part of our ongoing programme to maintain and improve key transport infrastructure across the District.

The project includes:

  • completing maintenance repairs to the bridge structure, rails and abutments
  • completing concrete repairs, including spall repairs and crack injection
  • installing a Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) strengthening system.

Most of the activity will occur on the underside of the bridge, meaning there will be minimal impact on everyday traffic.

Traffic impacts

While the bridge will generally remain open, a full closure will be required for CFRP curing of the central beams. This will likely take place over a weekend to minimise disruption.

Some operations will require temporary lane closures and / or restricted access for heavy vehicles to allow for curing of the CFRP product and maintenance work on the bridge rails.

Temporary traffic management and pedestrian management will be in place as needed.

Please follow all signs, detours and directions from onsite traffic management staff.

Using alternative routes where possible will help reduce delays.
