Our fees and charges for the 2026-27 financial year are provided below.

All fees are stated as GST inclusive (unless otherwise stated).

Seizure of property under bylaws

Seizure and confiscation of signs under the Local Government Act 2002 and bylaws (fixed fee) – signs under 1m²	$144.00
Seizure of other property (hourly)	Actual cost recovery at $109.00 per hour and mileage per IRD rate plus any additional costs
Seizure of skateboards, bikes and similar (fixed fee)	$79.00
Where otherwise not specified, any application for a permit, consent or exemption application or request under a Whangarei District Council bylaw. Fee is for one hour of processing, with additional time charged at $202.00 per hour.	$202.00 per hour

Hātea walkway swing bridge temporarily closed

The Hātea walkway swing bridge on the walking trail from A H Reed Memorial Kauri Park to Whangārei Falls is closed following a failed safety inspection. We are working with specialist engineers and contractors to replace the bridge structure to ensure necessary stabilisation and safety improvements.

Kotuitui Whitinga footbridge marine closure

Kotuitui Whitinga bridge will be closed to marine traffic from 9:00am to 3:30pm on Sunday 2 August 2026 due to a Northpower power outage.

Pedestrians can cross the bridge as usual. Te Matau a Pohe bridge operations are not affected by the outage.

Skippers are encouraged to contact Bridge Control for updates prior to setting off. We appreciate your patience while Northpower undertakes this work.
