Pop-up Pump Track
Whangārei has a Pop-up Pump Track thanks to funding from the Waka Kotahi Transport Choices programme. It is free for everyone to enjoy.
It is a modular track, made up of different sections that can be packed up and moved from one place to another. Think of it like a moveable piece of playground equipment.
Our model is the World Cup pump track by Park Life. It is 65 metres long and can be configured in three different ways.
The track includes a circuit of hills and bumps, rollers and banked turns.
It is designed to be ridden by scooters, skateboards and bike riders pumping to get momentum, instead of pedalling or pushing.
No motorised vehicles or electric scooters are allowed on the track.

Where is it now?
The first home for the Pop-up Pump Track is Korau Road Reserve, Tikipunga. It is there from February until August 2025, when it will move to a new site in Hikurangi.
Visitors to the pump track can access Korau Road Reserve from Korau Road or Hinau Street.
It’s also just a few minutes by bike, skate or scoot from the Kamo Shared Path.
The suggested route from the Kamo Shared Path (Jack Street / Puna Rere Drive connection):
- Travel down the shared path along Puna Rere Drive.
- Turn right onto Denby Crescent to reach Kiripaka Road.
- Use the zebra pedestrian crossing to reach Korau Road Reserve.
- Enjoy the playground and the new pump track.
