Alcohol licence public notices

The Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 requires all On, Off and Club Licence applications to be publicly notified. This applies to both new applications, and applications to renew an existing licence.

From 31 August 2023, we will be publishing all alcohol licence application public notices online which will be available to view for 25 working days after publication.

Tai Tong Chinese Restaurant – New On Licence

Tai Tong Chinese Restaurant (206 Bank Street, Whangārei) has made an application for the issue of an on licence. Objection period closes on Wednesday 29 January 2025.

Tui Crescent Foodmarket – Renewal of Off Licence

Tui Crescent Foodmarket (1 Tui Crescent, Maunu, Whangārei) has made an application for the renewal of an off licence. Objection period closes on Tuesday 28 January 2025.

LOCO – Renewal of On Licence

Objecting to an application

Any person, except a trade competitor, may object to an application for the granting of a licence as an individual, a representative of a group or an organisation.

An objection must be made in writing and filed with the District Licensing Committee within 25 working days after the first publication of the public notice.

No objection may be made in relation to a matter other than a matter specified in section 105.

How to object to an application

Send your written objection (within 25 working days after the publication) to us. We will forward onto the District Licensing Committee.

Huitau Pā walkway partial closure

Part of Huitau Pa walkway is closed due to significant erosion. You can still access the track from the parking area, however please do not walk along the cliff and make sure you stay well away from the edge as it is unsafe. Signage is in place.

Land Information Memorandum (LIM) applications closedown period

The closedown period for LIM applications is from 20 December 2024 to 10 January 2025. Any LIM application received during this time will be deemed as received on 11 January 2025. The last date to apply and pay to receive your LIM before Christmas will be Monday 9 December 2024.

The closedown period for processing Resource Management Act and Building Act applications is from 20 December 2024 to 10 January 2025, inclusive.

Summer alcohol licence deadline: Thursday 21 November 2024

The statutory closedown period for processing alcohol licence applications is from 20 December 2024 to 15 January 2025.

To ensure your alcohol licence applications are received and processed before the closedown, we must receive them by Thursday 21 November 2024.

Flush water from taps in the mornings

The Ministry of Health recommends flushing a mugful of water from drinking-water taps each morning to remove any metals that may have dissolved from the plumbing fittings.
Although the health risk is small, this simple precaution is one all households on public and private water supplies should take.
