Whangārei Run / Walk Festival temporary road closures

To support the Whangārei Run / Walk Festival, including the Half Marathon, 8.5km and 4km events, temporary road closures and traffic control will be in place across parts of the network, including Riverside Drive, Onerahi Road, Beach Road, Pah Road, Waimahanga Road, Whangarei Heads Road, and some other surrounding local streets and intersections.

Period of temporary closures / delays: Sunday 13 September 2026, 8:00am to 2:00pm.

Motorists should expect temporary road closures and lane restrictions, stop / go traffic management at key locations, temporary speed limits (as low as 30km/h), runners on road in some areas and short delays, particularly during peak event times.

Some delays are likely around Onerahi Road and the Dave Culham Drive roundabout with intersection access restricted at times and traffic controllers and event marshals in place to manage movements.

Please allow extra travel time, follow all signage and instructions from traffic controllers, drive to the conditions and take extra care around participants, and consider alternative routes where possible. 

Emergency vehicle access will be always maintained.
