Waipū Cove Trail

The Waipū Cove Trail is an 8.5km fairly flat gravel bike route between Waipū and Waipū Cove.

This was a community-led project with support from Council.

We acknowledge the Waipū Walking and Cycling Trust for their leadership in this initiative. They also run a website about the project:

Shared paths are especially made for bicycles, walking, pushchairs, skateboards, mobility scooters, wheelchairs and other similar devices.

Motorbikes, cars and other road vehicles are not permitted on shared paths.

Please keep left when using shared paths, maintain a polite speed and distance while passing others, and stay on the pavement.

Hātea walkway swing bridge temporarily closed

The Hātea walkway swing bridge on the walking trail from A H Reed Memorial Kauri Park to Whangārei Falls is closed following a failed safety inspection. We are working with specialist engineers and contractors to replace the bridge structure to ensure necessary stabilisation and safety improvements.
