Onerahi Cemetery is located on Church Street, opposite Onerahi Primary School.
Originally a lawn cemetery, it has a collection of small gardens, planted and maintained by families on the plots of loved ones.
Onerahi Cemetery has no new adult burial plots but cremains (ash) plots and a scattering garden are available. A limited number of children's burial plots are available.

Onerahi Cemetery used to be named Grahamtown Cemetery.
Initially, four acres of crown land was vested to the people of Whangārei for use as a cemetery but now only one hectare is used for this purpose.
In 1957, the land came under the governance of the Whangārei Borough Council after the dissolution of the Onerahi Town Board.
