Santa has listened to the Waipū community and he can now visit Waipū on Christmas Eve!

The annual Waipū Christmas Eve parade is the last to take place in New Zealand on Christmas Eve.

This is a much-loved fixture on the Waipū events calendar with local businesses and community groups taking part with their own creative floats.

Rates rebate widened

Changes to the thresholds mean some ratepayers who weren't eligible for a rates rebate in 2024-25 might be eligible in 2025-26. Homeowners can check their eligibility and apply for the 2025-26 rates rebate below. Grant assessments will be limited during December and January. To receive a decision before the end of the year, please submit your application by Monday 24 November 2025. Consideration of applications will resume in February, but submissions can still be made at any time during this period.

Summer alcohol licence deadline: Friday 21 November 2025

The statutory closedown period for processing alcohol licence applications is from 20 December 2025 to 15 January 2026.
