Join composting educator Judy Keats and team players at Woodhill Community Garden to learn the basics of composting at home.

In this hands-on workshop, you will find out what ingredients can go into your compost and why the balance of green and brown material matters.

We will add some layers to the existing pile and discuss DIY options to consider for your own composting system.

Bring your composting questions and your willing hands.

Parking available on the street and the entrance to the gardens is beside the Norfolk Pine.

Hātea walkway swing bridge temporarily closed

The Hātea walkway swing bridge on the walking trail from A H Reed Memorial Kauri Park to Whangārei Falls is closed following a failed safety inspection. We are working with specialist engineers and contractors to replace the bridge structure to ensure necessary stabilisation and safety improvements.

Rates rebate widened

Changes to the thresholds mean some ratepayers who weren't eligible for a rates rebate in 2024-25 might be eligible in 2025-26. Homeowners can check their eligibility and apply for the 2025-26 rates rebate below. If you received a rebate last year, we have sent you a form for 2025-26, which you should have received by the end of July 2025.
