Play Day at the Quarry Arts Centre

An adult and a child play with clay.

A welcoming, hands-on clay experience celebrating the physical joy of making with clay.

This drop-in activity invites tamariki and their whānau to explore simple hand-building techniques – wedging, pinching, rolling and shaping.

Clay work strengthens fine motor skills, builds hand and arm strength, and fosters body awareness. Clay making is a physical artform where the body acquires new skills and finds harmony with creative intention.

This activity promotes hauora by spotlighting the physical dimension of wellbeing through tactile, embodied play.

For all ages: Those aged under 5 should only participate with a parent, caregiver or older whānau member.

Clay and tools provided.

No experience needed.

No registration required. Just drop in and get your hands dirty.

There will be a cost to kiln fire and works made. Prices are the Quarry community electric kiln rates.
