The watermain that runs down Miraka Road in Ruakākā and onto SH1 is being upgraded to ensure it meets the requirements of Fire and Emergency New Zealand’s Code of Practice.

Currently, a 1.1km section of this piping falls short of the minimum flows and pressures required to provide fire-fighting coverage.

This project will see this undersized piping replaced with a larger pipe to ensure it meets the code, starting on Miraka Road. The upgrade will also improve water pressure for those connected in this area.

Works will mostly be carried out in the road shoulder and have minimal impact on road users. We are working closely with Waka Kotahi to ensure as little disruption as possible.

Rates rebate widened
