Come and discover Whangārei Croquet Club

Give it a go: Club Captain Carl Williams invites people to come and enjoy free sessions at the Whangārei Croquet Club as part of the Silver Festival.
Tucked away behind the green fence at 2 Third Avenue, Whangārei Croquet Club is one of the Avenues’ hidden gems, a peaceful green space with beautifully kept lawns, mature trees, birdlife, and a warm welcome for anyone keen to try something new.
As part of Silver Festival Whangārei, the club is inviting people to come along, have a go, and experience a game that is social, strategic and gentle on the body. Visitors only need flat, closed-in shoes; the club provides the equipment and friendly guidance.

Club Captain Carl Williams says, "Croquet can be as competitive or as social as people want it to be, making it ideal for older adults, newcomers, families, workplaces and groups looking for a relaxed activity close to the city centre."
The club has deep roots in Whangārei, with a story stretching back more than a century. Today, members continue to care for the privately owned grounds, putting in many volunteer hours to keep the lawns, gardens and clubhouse welcoming and fit for purpose.
In recent years, the club has also worked with our flooding and bamboo control, and has received Whangārei Communities Fund support for essential repairs and maintenance.

Regular club days are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with Mahjong on Thursdays from 1:00pm. The club is also offering one month free for anyone who signs up for an annual membership, or a couple of free sessions for casual users.
Whether you are looking for a new hobby, a gentle way to stay active, or simply a beautiful local space to visit, Whangārei Croquet Club is ready to welcome you.
