This project provides a missing footpath link between Munro Street and Gloyn Road on Weir Crescent in Onerahi.

Our contractor, BDX Group, will be making some minor improvements to the existing road with:

new kerb and channel
minor road widening and new road markings
new road drainage
upgrading of the existing bus stop at the Munro Street intersection
installation of a new 1.8m-wide footpath and associated concrete driveway connections
minor vegetation trimming.

We look forward to seeing these improvements completed for the wider community and would like to thank our locals for being patient while these works are completed.

Ōakura public meeting on Tuesday 31 March 2026

There will be a public meeting covering local land-slips, public facilities, wastewater, and ongoing local projects, to be held at the Ōakura Sports Complex (Wharua Road) on Tuesday 31 March. Doors will open at 6:00pm for a 6:30pm start. All are welcome, especially Ōakura locals.

Hātea walkway swing bridge temporarily closed

The Hātea walkway swing bridge on the walking trail from A H Reed Memorial Kauri Park to Whangārei Falls is closed following a failed safety inspection. We are working with specialist engineers and contractors to replace the bridge structure to ensure necessary stabilisation and safety improvements.

Rates rebate widened

Changes to the thresholds mean some ratepayers who weren't eligible for a rates rebate in 2024-25 might be eligible in 2025-26. Homeowners can check their eligibility and apply for the 2025-26 rates rebate below. If you received a rebate last year, we have sent you a form for 2025-26, which you should have received by the end of July 2025.
