Te Tiriti Workshop for Newcomers

Are you interested in deepening your understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance in Aotearoa today?

Join us for an engaging and interactive workshop facilitated by experienced educators from Project Waitangi, an independent community organisation that has been providing Te Tiriti education since 1985.

Through activity-based learning and open discussion, participants will explore the history, context and significance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including He Whakaputanga (The Declaration of Independence), the different treaty texts, the primacy of the Māori text, and the processes and impacts of colonisation.

This workshop provides a welcoming and respectful space for learning, reflection and discussion. Whether you are new to Te Tiriti or looking to build on your existing knowledge, this session will offer valuable insights and resources to support your ongoing learning journey.

This workshop has been designed specifically for newcomers, migrants, former refugees and international student communities in Whangārei.

Come along, ask questions, share perspectives and strengthen your understanding of one of Aotearoa New Zealand's founding documents.

Light refreshments will be provided. 

Limited seats are available so book your place now. Please also advise if you require any form of language support / assistance as there will be English textbooks provided.
