Pay library fees and fines

Payments can be made in person or online

We offer a number of ways to pay your library fees and fines. Online payments include using My Monitor or Internet banking. 

My Monitor

Use My Monitor to pay for printing and photocopy services and library fines.

Fine payments are immediately credited to your library card account.

Step 1.Log in to your My Monitor account

Sign in with your library card number and PIN.

Step 2.Top up your My Monitor account

Payments are by credit card only.

To top up your account click on the green Add Value button.

Select the amount you want to add or enter a dollar amount.

Step 3.Pay fines

Click the red pay button, which displays only when you do have fines owing.

Then tick the box or boxes next to the charges you wish to pay.

About My Monitor

Internet banking

Only library fines can be paid using Internet banking.

It can take 3 days for fines to be cleared from your library card. 

Payment is made to Whangarei District Council bank account number:

Council is set up as a bill payee with your bank.

Step 1.Log in to your bank's website

Step 2.Search for the library's account

In the payments section, search for Whangarei in the payee list.


Step 3.Include your details

Please include the following in the reference fields:

  • Code: your library card number.
  • Reference: your surname and initials.


For queries regarding payments by internet banking:

  • phone 09 430 4200 and ask for the Revenue office.

In person

You can pay library fees and fines with cash, Eftpos or credit card at any of our library branches.

Payments can be made at the Information desks or on the self-checkout kiosks.
