Library Lunchtime Koha Concerts
Take a break, bring your lunch, and soak up the sounds of Tai Tokerau!
In celebration of NZ Music Month, Creative Northland in association with Whangarei District Libraries invites you to a special series of Lunchtime Koha Concerts showcasing the incredible talent of local musicians.
Each Friday in May, enjoy live music in the heart of the library - an uplifting midday escape in a cosy, creative space.
Featuring a diverse line-up of Northland’s own, these intimate performances are a chance to discover new voices, reconnect with familiar ones, and celebrate our vibrant regional music scene.
Whether you’re a longtime supporter of local music or just looking for a soulful lunch hour, these concerts are for you. Come along, bring a friend and help us celebrate the sound of Aotearoa during NZ Music Month.

Friday 9 May - André Gomesz
André is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter whose music explores the depths of self, community and the human experience. Inspired by a diverse range of genres and artists, André s songs often emerge spontaneously, reflecting past, present, and imagined future moments. Their performances are a captivating blend of live instrumentation and layered soundscapes, created with electric guitar and looping techniques, often incorporate elements of sound-scaping. Known for their captivating improvisational singing, André channels the energy of the room and their own emotions into spontaneous vocal performances that are both mesmerising and deeply personal. His unique approach to music creates an immersive and unforgettable experience for listeners.

Friday 16 May - Lynn Walters
A well-known, award-winning songwriter with international renown. Lynn's songs range from quirky kiwi humour, 'The Possums and Me', to heartfelt ballads, 'This Thing Called Love', with everything in between. Lynn has been playing music since the mid 80s as a bass player/vocalist branching out into writing in the mid 90s when she won a raft of songwriting awards including the NZCMA Songwriter of the Year.
Lynn toured with US musician Charlie Groth in 2007 and performed for many years at the Bay of Islands Jazz and Country Festivals. The Ukulele has become her instrument of choice in later years because of its versatility and ease of transport. She loves writing songs that come from the heart and believe music is the perfect way to create positive links with each other. Spreading the vibe with the intent to create joy, peace and harmony.

Friday 23 May - Talute
Formed by Waipu Cove song-writer Chris Davis, Talute’s music blends soulful wisdom with wry humour. He describes the sound as, "Pacific reggae meets early Flying Nun." A regular performer at open mics and local events, music for Chris is all about community. He's joined by fellow Bream Bayers, Paula (flute, vocals) and Barbara Stewart (violin).
Talute's first single 'Rosedub' was released for NZ Music Month 2025.

Friday 30 May - Peowhairangi
We’re thrilled to welcome Peowhairangi to the library stage. Peowhairangi is a 16-year-old singer-songwriter based in Whangārei, carving her path in music with heart, talent and purpose. Known for her beautiful voice and natural musicality, she’s quickly gaining recognition for performances that belie her age. Don’t let her youth fool you — with a growing list of diverse performance experiences and 35k fans on TikTok, Peowhairangi is a rising artist to watch.
