Vehicle type (Truck and Trailer unit) restriction: Gorge / Waipū Gorge Road (section between Durham and Doctors Hill Road)
Pursuant to the Land Transport Amendment Act 2017, Section 16a (Temporary restriction of heavy traffic on roads), we the undersigned through associated delegations of Council, on behalf of Kaipara District Council and Whangarei District Council in the capacity of the Road Controlling Authorities, confirm we have given consent for the temporary restriction of "Truck and Trailer units" from utilising the section of:
Between Monday 26 February and Wednesday 27 March 2024 and Wednesday 3 April to Monday 13 May 2024.
This restriction is for the purposes of protecting this critical local road access route from blockage, temporary blockages and vehicle incident while use of State Highway 1 through the Brynderwyns is closed for critical improvements.
Appropriate signage advising of this restriction will be displayed in at least 1 prominent position prior to the final appropriate turning point at both the Northern and Southern points of the section of Gorge and Waipū Gorge Road that this temporary restriction applies.
A person commits an offence, and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,000, if the person contravenes the requirements of any sign described in subsection (2) unless the person proves that there was no other way reasonably available for the traffic concerned to proceed.
