Did we get it right? Do you support the outcomes and actions in the draft Plan?
If you would like to have a face to face meeting to discuss your feedback, please request a meeting with your preferred dates and times to email@example.com with the subject heading “Waterfront meeting request”.
The aim of the Waterfront Precinct Plan is to create a cohesive integrated plan which outlines our 20- to 30-year shared vision for how the waterfront will change and develop.
It will also be a key tool to bring together the numerous waterfront related projects which Council has already committed to, and inform future projects, public space improvements, infrastructure and guide future development.
What area is included in the plan?
The area included in this plan extends along the Hātea River, starting several hundred metres north of Canopy Bridge, all the way down to Limeburners Creek, taking in the Hātea Loop walkway, lifting bridges, Hihiaua Peninsula and Pohe Island.
It connects to other parts of the city including the Whangārei City (city core), Northland Events Centre, Okara Park, the Whangārei Harbour, Onerahi and Mairtown.
The Waterfront Precinct Plan is the second of three Precinct Plans being developed by Council as part of the Whangārei City Centre Plan 2017. The first was the City Core Precinct Plan, adopted by Council at the Council Meeting on 20 May 2019.
