We are updating our Water Supply Bylaw and want to hear your views on the content of our proposed new bylaw.

The purpose of the Water Supply Bylaw is to protect public health and safety by managing the public water supply and protecting it from damage and misuse.

The bylaw was last reviewed in 2012 and needs to be renewed to meet statutory time frames.

The draft bylaw proposes some minor amendments. It:

  • clarifies our power to restrict public access in restricted water catchment areas in the interests of public health and safety;
  • extends the maximum processing time for new supply applications from 10 to 20 working days; and
  • updates some technical terminology to reflect modern usage.

The Statement of Proposal sets out what we are proposing. We recommend you read it in full to understand the context of the proposed bylaw.

Please note that fluoridation of the water supply is mandated by Central Government and is out of scope of this bylaw. More information on water fluoridation can be found here:
