Children's Day 2021

Update: In light of the latest COVID-19 7-day lockdown, this event may be cancelled or postponed. We will update this page with confirmation in due course.

For the first time, Children’s Day Whangārei will be held at Manaia View School and it is shaping up to be another awesome event for the whole whānau to enjoy.

With 2020 throwing our communities a few curve balls, this year the team behind Children’s Day Whangārei want to focus on what’s most important.

“We want to provide a space that encourages parents, caregivers and wider whānau to come along and have a great day out with their kids. Last year brought home to us the importance of whānau time and connecting with each other, so we want to facilitate those opportunities as much as we can throughout this year’s event,” says stall coordinator Leanne Brownie.

As in previous years, Whangārei’s popular free Children’s Day celebration will promote positive health and wellbeing, as well as being a zero waste event.

“We want to make it easy for all of our families to celebrate with their kids,” says Lou Davis, Children’s Day committee lead.

“That’s why everything at Children’s Day is free including the food, activities and buses we have running to and from the event. We want all of our tamariki to feel included.”

When and where?

Children’s Day Whangārei will be held on National Children’s Day, Sunday 7 March 2021, 10:00am - 1:00pm at Manaia View School.
