Slower drivers heading into Whangārei from Whangarei Heads and Parua Bay will be able to pull over easily at Tamaterau and allow others to pass.

The pull-in area has been upgraded and asphalted. Other improvements include:

  • marked parking areas
  • improved exit and entrance
  • more space around the central pohutukawa tree and other mature trees to allow water to seep through the ground to their roots
