Slower drivers heading into Whangārei from Whangarei Heads and Parua Bay will be able to pull over easily at Tamaterau and allow others to pass.

Improvements

The pull-in area has been upgraded and asphalted. Other improvements include:

  • marked parking areas
  • improved exit and entrance
  • more space around the central pohutukawa tree and other mature trees to allow water to seep through the ground to their roots

Project details

The $304,0000 project is being funded by both the Tourism Infrastructure Fund and Council.

The back wall of the bus shelter has been painted with the handprints of Parua Bay Primary School children.
