If you are eligible to vote or to stand as a candidate, and need help to complete your documents, we can help.

Our electoral team can help you with the voting or the nomination process:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Your appointment will be at a Council venue, such as a library or our customer services centre.

This service is only available for people who cannot complete their voting or nomination documents on their own.

To cast a vote your name must be on the electoral roll by Friday 12 August 2022.

If this is your first time voting or if you are not yet on an electoral roll you can enrol online, over the phone or by text.

Nominations

Nominations to stand as a candidate in the local elections open at noon on Friday 15 July to and close at 12 noon on Friday 12 August 2022.

The nomination process requires forms to be filled out by you and two other people.

If you want to be nominated, you must get two electors (nominators) who are on the electoral roll and live within the area you want to represent to complete sections on your nomination papers. 

If help is needed filling out the forms make sure the people nominating you, come with you to an appointment with our election team.

You need to lodge all nomination material together:

  • nomination paper
  • candidate profile statement
  • photograph (if provided)
  • nomination deposit (or proof of nomination deposit).

Voting

Voting packs will be sent to everyone enrolled to vote by Friday 16 September 2022.

They will be delivered by NZ Post between Friday 16 September 2022 and Wednesday 21 September 2022.
