The Whangārei District has over 270 kilometres of open coastline containing some of New Zealand’s most picturesque and popular beaches.
Council has a strategic planning programme which aims to provide long-term guidance for the management of the district's coasts and beaches for the benefit and enjoyment of all.
Together with the community, iwi, Northland Regional Council and the Department of Conservation, we work to make sure that our coast, beaches and natural environment are protected.
The following plans, strategies and information form part of the key information for the Rural and Coastal Planning programme.
