Council services through COVID-19

Unite against COVID-19

Whangarei District is at the 'Orange' setting in the COVID-19 Protection Framework

Although all of our facilities are open, both the i-SITE at Tarewa Park and Central Library require anyone over the age of 12 to show their valid My Vaccine Pass for entry. Details for these locations are below. The offices at Forum North, and the Ruakaka Service Centre, do not require visitors to show a My Vaccine Pass.

General safety precautions

  • In all indoor public areas please allow at least 1 metre of physical distancing from people you don't know
  • All visitors must sign in at our reception areas or use the NZ Covid Tracer app.
  • Our front-line staff will be wearing face-coverings and we ask our customers to do the same.
  • Surfaces at council facilities will be frequently cleaned, and hand sanitiser will be available for visitors to use.
  • If you have cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms, stay home and get a test.

Whangarei District Libraries

A valid My Vaccine Pass is required for anyone over the age of 12 years, 3 months to enter the Central Library.

This requirement is because the building is multi-purpose. The café inside the library must operate with a My Vaccine Pass requirement, and there is no way to physically separate either access to or airflow between the café and library.

Children under the age of 12 years are able to enter without this requirement. A My Vaccine Pass will not be required to access the Branch Libraries or Mobile Library.
